Wedding bomboniere or wedding favors are small giveaway gifts given as a gesture of appreciation to wedding guests for their attendance and participation from the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony or reception.
The presenting of wedding favors is an old European tradition. The first wedding favor believed to be common amongst local aristocrats known then as a bonbonniere. A bonbonniere being a small trinket box made of crystal, porcelain, and/or precious stones. The contents of these precious boxes were generally sugar cubes or delicate confections which symbolise both wealth and royalty. In an era when sugar was an expensive commodity it was treasured only among the wealthy.  As the price of sugar decreased over time this tradition of providing sweet favours to guests was accepted by the general population and was embraced by couples of modest means.
In the thirteenth century almonds coated with sugar, known as confetti, were introduced. Confetti soon transformed to sugared almonds which later evolved into the wedding favor for modern day weddings. Traditionally, five sugared almonds are presented in a box or wrapped in organza to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness. The bitterness of the almond and the sweetness of the coated candy exemplify the bitter sweetness of a marriage.

Today, gifts to guests are commonly known as wedding favors and are shared in many cultures worldwide. Wedding favors have become a part of wedding reception planning in the United States, Canada and Australia. Wedding favors are diverse and usually complement the theme or season of the event. Classic favors can range from the classic sugared almonds or chocolates to gifts of candles and scented soaps. Modern gift include shot glasses filled with sugared almonds and candy or picture frames with a photo of the couple. Gifts may also be personalized with the couple's names, initials or wedding date.

Our boxes are delivered flat for easy DIY assembly. This allows for the family and or bridal party to get together for another pre-wedding event as the boxes are assembled and decorated.
